The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Rivers State has arrested 117 motorists for various traffic offences during a special operation.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Inyang Umoh, announced that the arrests were made in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies as part of Operation Zero Intervention.
The operation, which commenced on December 15, 2025, and will run until January 15, 2026, according to the Sector Commander, aims to ensure round-the-clock patrols, strategic traffic management, rapid emergency response, and aggressive enforcement of traffic laws.
According to Corps Commander Umoh, the offences committed by the arrested motorists include overloading, attempting to bribe FRSC personnel, and failing to install speed limiting devices.
Specifically, 23 motorists were arrested for overloading, 13 drivers were arrested for attempting to bribe FRSC personnel, and 34 commercial drivers were arrested for failing to install speed limiting devices.

Corps Commander Umoh, however, emphasized the importance of strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations, especially during the yuletide season.
He reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility, urging all road users, including motorists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and tricyclists, to take responsibility for their safety and avoid distracted driving. “Road safety is a shared responsibility, hence all road users… must take responsibility for their safety and avoid distracted driving at all cost,” he said.
