Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has alleged a fresh plot to use the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, from participating in the 2027 general election.
Frank, in a statement made available to THE WHISTLER on Monday, claimed the ADC had always been the main target of the alleged plan while other political developments were being used as a distraction.
“We have been reliably informed of the fresh plot and plan to use the Judiciary and INEC to remove the ADC from the ballot come 2027,” he said.
“We are aware that with this new fresh plot, the ADC has always been the main target, whilst only using the NDC as a decoy, yet ensuring that the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, are not on the ballot come 2027 at any cost.”
Frank attributed the intelligence to a source in the presidency.

“This information was given to me by a very top source within the Presidency, who also expressed his disappointment that this shouldn’t be happening at this time, because he knows the implications and why it will be an embarrassment to us all.
“I’m therefore informing Nigerians to be vigilant and observe the pattern being carried out by the ruling party and its quest to hold onto power at all costs,” Frank said.
He also called on the international community, particularly the United States government, to intervene.
Frank further warned INEC and the judiciary against taking part in the alleged attempt to frustrate opposition participation in the election.
“I’m therefore using this opportunity to warn INEC and the Judiciary that should they become accomplices with the ruling government, Nigerians, the world and posterity will hold them accountable because we’re aware already,” he said.

He also appealed to opposition leaders and presidential candidates to unite ahead of the 2027 election, as failure to act could have consequences for the country’s democracy.
“I would also like to use this opportunity to appeal to all opposition leaders and presidential candidates to come together in unison and deliberately move to fight and save our democracy from the hands of this president, who is hell-bent on turning Nigeria into a one-party state,” Frank said.
The allegation came days after Atiku raised a similar concern over an alleged plot to prevent the ADC from contesting the 2027 general election.
Atiku, speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said that unnamed elements within the ruling government were working to keep the party off the ballot.
The former vice president said such a move would amount to an attack on Nigeria’s democracy and accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken opposition parties.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had recently ordered the deregistration of the ADC and four others for allegedly failing to meet constitutional requirements for political parties.
