After Recovery From COVID-19, Raymond Dokpesi Finds ‘Solutions’ To Nigeria’s Health Challenges

Following his recovery from Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi has said his infection with the deadly virus opened his eyes to the enormous challenges facing Nigeria’s health sector.

THE WHISTLER had reported that Dokpesi, who is the founder of Daar Communications Plc, as well as two of his grandchildren, recovered from the virus and were subsequently discharged from the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital where they were receiving treatment.

The 68-year-old businessman, in a ‘thank you’ message he sent out to those that reached out to him during his battle with COVID-19, said the solutions to Nigeria’s health challenges lie in, “well thought out policies, coupled with targeted and highly coordinated investment in the health system.”

Dokpesi suggested that Nigeria’s fight against COVID-19 “may become the catalyst for the much-needed reform in the health sector” if the recommendations were implemented.

Meanwhile, his son and chairman of the African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi jnr, daughter in-law, and some members of his family who contracted the virus are said to still be receiving treatment.

Dokpesi sent special thanks to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, the Chief Medical Director of UNIABUJA Teaching Hospital, Bisallah Ekene, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, former president Goodluck Jonathan, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former governor Peter Odili, among other Nigerians, who reached out to him while he was receiving treatment for the virus.
