The Algerian Football Association has filed official complaints to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and FIFA over ‘biased officiating’ in the 2-0 defeat to Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the Super Eagles recorded an impressive 2-0 win over the Fennecs in Marrakech on Saturday to book a place in the 2025 Nations Cup semi-finals.
However, The Algerian FA criticised official referee, Issa Sy, for damaging trust in African refereeing while demanding for an investigation.
The Algerian FA claim that a clear penalty was denied to their team, while several decisions taken during the game were questionable and allegedly favoured Nigeria.
The apex football body in Algeria confirmed the complaints in a statement on Monday.
The statement read: “While acknowledging the sporting result, the Algerian Football Federation calls on all Algerian supporters to remain united and in solidarity with our National Team, which is engaged in a phase of reconstruction and is part of a process of work and progress.

“A major deadline is looming in less than five months with the FIFA World Cup, which requires mobilization, serenity and the support of everyone.
“The players and coaching staff demonstrated commitment, professionalism, and determination throughout the competition. For this, they deserve the recognition and encouragement of the entire national football community.
“The Algerian Football Federation cannot, however, remain silent on the refereeing performance observed during the last match, which has raised numerous questions and caused profound incomprehension. Certain decisions have damaged the credibility of African refereeing and do nothing to enhance the value of continental football on the international stage.
“To this end, the FAF has officially contacted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) by filing a formal complaint, accompanied by a request for an investigation, so that the facts can be fully investigated and appropriate measures taken in accordance with the regulations in force.”
Victor Osimhen, and Akor Adams were on target for Nigeria in the encounter.
