Anambra Police Arrest Suspected Political Thug ‘Red Angel’

Police in Anambra State have arrested a suspected political thug and cult member identified as Onyeaka Odogwu, also known as Red Angel.

The command said Odogwu, 29, was arrested on October 24 in an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS) at Enugu-Ukwu.

According to a statement on Sunday, the police recovered two pump-action guns, two double-barrel guns, three live cartridges, cult regalia, and caps bearing Vikings Confraternity insignia during the operation.

They said the suspect confessed to being a member of the Vikings Confraternity and linked himself to acts of political thuggery.

“Following his confession, the suspect in the early hours of October 26, led operatives to their armoury at Omor, where the exhibits were recovered,” the statement read.

The police added that all recovered items have been documented as evidence, and investigations are underway to arrest other members of the gang.

He called on parents, community leaders, and youth groups to help dissuade young people from joining cult groups or engaging in politically motivated violence.

He also assured residents of enhanced security deployment across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure a safe election environment.
