Arewa Youths Celebrate THE WHISTLER Publisher Ume, Hail Humanitarian Impact

The Arewa Youth Assembly has described Chief James Chijioke Ume, Founder of the Unubiko Foundation and Publisher of THE WHISTLER Newspaper, as one of Nigeria’s most inspiring entrepreneurs and humanitarians, as he marked his 45th birthday on Wednesday.

In a goodwill message signed by its Speaker, Mohammed Danlami, the group said Ume, who was born on October 1, a day Nigeria gained independence, has distinguished himself as a philanthropist, media leader, and employer of labour whose works continue to impact lives across the country.

“Chief Ume’s generosity, compassion, and commitment to humanity set him apart as a beacon of hope in a nation yearning for leaders who give rather than take,” the statement read.

Through the Unubiko Foundation, Ume has built and renovated schools, awarded scholarships to indigent students, established healthcare centres, and donated modern hospitals to underserved communities.

His focus on women’s empowerment has also led to the creation of development centres offering skills training and financial support across Abia State and beyond.

The Assembly noted that these interventions earned him an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philanthropy and Human Investment, further cementing his reputation as a respected humanitarian.

Beyond philanthropy, Ume’s influence in the media industry as Chairman and Publisher of The Whistler has, according to the statement, raised the bar for investigative journalism and accountability reporting in Nigeria. His ventures as an entrepreneur have also created opportunities for hundreds of young Nigerians.

“Indeed, Chief James Ume is a blessing not only to Abia State but also to Nigeria and the world at large. On his 45th birthday, we celebrate a man chosen by God to liberate, uplift, and inspire,” the Arewa Youth Assembly declared.

While praying for more grace, health, and wisdom for him, the group also invoked Psalm 118:24 which says, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” and Isaiah 54:17, which proclaims divine protection over his life and legacy.

The Assembly concluded its goodwill message by reaffirming that Ume’s story remains an inspiration to millions, especially the youth, urging leaders across Nigeria to emulate his example of selfless giving and transformative service.
