Delta: Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Over Brother’s Death, Net Five In Security Raids

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Aliyu Haman, over the alleged murder of his brother in the Ogwashi-Uku area of the state.

According to a Sunday release by the command, the murder incident was reported at the Ogwashi-Uku Police Division in the early hours of January 8.

Police said the victim, a male aged 20, was stabbed to death while asleep along Poly Road, near Adaigbo Filling Station.

Following the report, the command conducted a crackdown on the suspect, and the weapon used in committing the crime was recovered.

The police said the corpse had been deposited at Odua Mortuary, Ogwashi-Uku, while investigations continue.

Also, operatives of the command had arrested a suspected cultist and armed robber during an early-morning patrol on 10 January.

The officers while on patrol along Hausa Market, Ubeji, “sighted about five suspected hoodlums loitering suspiciously within the market area”.

He stated that the suspects fled on sighting the police, but one of them, identified as Gift Ojulowo, 30, was apprehended after a chase.

“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges concealed inside his trousers,” the police disclosed.

The suspect, the police added, confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity, while investigations were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

Officers of the command further arrested two notorious armed robbers specialising in motorcycle snatching in Agbor and its environs.

The command noted that its operatives tracked the suspects after a reported robbery incident on 24 December, 2025.

“The suspects, identified as Owakwe Chuks, 37, and Bright Moses, 32, were arrested on 4 January 2026 at about 10:45pm.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include a hammer used in inflicting injuries on victims, a short knife, a brown face mask, a face cap and one handset,” the police stated.

In a related operation, operatives of the Raiders Unit arrested a 43-year-old man, Obi Ndubuoso, for allegedly having illicit drugs.

The arrest, which took place on 8 January, resulted in the recovery of 36 bottles of illicit drugs popularly known as laughing gas (nitrous oxide).

He added that investigations were ongoing to trace the source and possible distribution network of the substance.
