Edo People Should Shun Tainted Candidates – Onaiwu

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Edo state governorship election, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has argued that the only way the state can be reclaimed by the people is if they shun tainted candidates and crisis-ridden parties.

Osaro in his acceptance speech after his emergence as the candidate of the APGA for the September 10, 2016 Edo state governorship poll, said it was imperative for the people of the state to “shine their eyes,” as it is clear that the other parties in the state were not only crises-ridden but with candidates that are integrity challenged.

“The solution is simple for those of us in Edo state if we want to reclaim our state and make it work for everybody: shun the parties that have infighting and their candidates that have had issues with the EFCC at one time or the other,” Onaiwu said.

He further stated that, “Our state can ill-afford people whose moral authority are in doubt over their actions or inactions concerning position of trust which they have abused.

“I offer you a credible alternative built on experience and without the baggage of having to answer questions from anti-graft bodies.

“Over the years, I have worked closely with the governors across party lines, I have peered reviewed them, I have the clarity of how governance works. I am not a one sector candidate like some, who have only known either the private or public sector but not the benefit of both.

“For me, while people keep harping about the issues that confront our state, I proffer Solutions so that together we can build shared prosperity for all Edolites.

“This election is dawn for our people through APGA. We want to bring something new and refreshing to the state while looking at what the present state government has excelled in and continue with it. We would not throw the baby with the bath water.”

Onaiwu was the Director General of the PDP Governors Forum before he resigned to the APGA a fortnight ago and emerged the party’s flag bearer weekend in Benin.
