Female suicide bomber kills 15 in Darmaturu market

A Nigerian police spokesman confirmed to reuters that not less than 15 people have been killed by a suicide bomb blast in a crowded market in Darmaturu, North-east Nigeria.

Although no one has claimed responsibilty for the attack. The blast which occurred at around 9:30 a.m according to an eye witness, follows similar pattern of suicide bombings by Boko Haram in recent weeks.

“Fifteen people have been confirmed dead so far and more dead bodies are being brought to the hospital,” said police spokesman Toyin Gbadegasin. Witnesses said about 50 people had been injured in the blast.

This latest bombing follows previous deadly suicide attack that killed three policemen at a security checkpoint outside Darmaturu. 

At least nine people were killed earlier this month in the Darmaturu by a female suicide bomber as worshippers gathered to observe the Eid al-Fitr.
