FG Releases Requirements For 50,000 Police Recruits, Opens Portal Monday
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has opened the national recruitment portal for 50,000 police constables, launching a nationwide exercise that begins on Monday, December 15, 2025.
The announcement follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to expand the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and reinforce community policing efforts through increased manpower.
PSC Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, confirmed the commencement of the exercise.
He stated, “The recruitment portal will be open from Monday, 15 December 2025 to Sunday, 25 January 2026.”
The Commission structured the process into two applicant categories: the general duty cadre and the specialists’ cadre.
According to Kalu, “General Duty cadre applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with a minimum of five credits (including English Language and Mathematics) in not more than two sittings.”

Kalu also outlined the general eligibility standards for the exercise.
He said candidates must “Be Nigerian citizens by birth; aged between 18 and 25 years for General Duty; 18 to 28 years for Specialists; medically, physically and psychologically fit, not be less than 1.67m (male) and 1.64m (female) in height (for General Duty only).”
