The Kano State Hisba Board has arrested no fewer than 25 persons for allegedly organising a same-sex marriage ceremony in the Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.
The Deputy Commander of the Board, Mujahedeen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, the suspects, comprising 18 males and seven females, were arrested on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Fatima Event Centre located along Hotoro Bypass in Kano.
“Today, Saturday, 25th October 2025, we got a report that some people are allegedly organising same-sex marriage. Our personnel stormed the Fatima Event Centre, the venue of the illegal event, and we successfully arrested 25 persons, 18 males and seven females,” Aminudeen stated.
He further disclosed that the suspects, including the groom, who hailed from various parts of the state, such as Sheka, Yar Gaya, and Kofar Nasarawa, were rounded up at the venue during the operation.
The Deputy Commander reiterated the Board’s commitment to upholding moral values in Kano, and warned that it would not tolerate actions capable of tarnishing the state’s reputation.

“We will not fold our arms and allow undesirable elements to destroy the good image and reputation of Kano State,” he said.
Aminudeen urged residents to collaborate with the Hisba Board by promptly reporting immoral activities, while assuring that the agency would intensify its crackdown on gatherings that promote indecency.
“The board will continue to raid such places that promote immorality,” he added.
