Iran’s Largest Ship Sinks After Fire Outbreak

On Wednesday, the largest ship used by Iran’s navy sank in the high seas around the Gulf of Oman.

Iran’s news agency, Fars, disclosed this.

It was said that the ship ( Khark vessel ) which had embarked on a training mission was gutted by fire.

Checks by our correspondent showed that the vessel was used to covey military equipment and helicopters.

It also carried objects worth 18,880 tonnes.

The state media claimed that although there were no causalities, efforts to save the ship proved abortive.

“Public relations of the second maritime area of Jask announced that after the fire on the Khark vessel and after the transfer of the personnel to the shore, despite 20 hours of all-out efforts due to the spread of fire in different parts, the rescue operation of the Khark training support vessel was ineffective. Jask’s range calmed down,” Fars reported.
