The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly attempting to traffic two girls to Arab countries for domestic work.
The Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, disclosed the arrest on Friday.
He identified the suspect as Bala Haruna, from Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State. Haruna was arrested on Thursday at a motor park in Kano while allegedly trying to transport the girls out of the state.
Aminuddeen said the girls were identified as 23-year-old Fatima Safiyanu from Daura, Katsina State, and 11-year-old Hasiya Haruna from Kazaure, Jigawa State.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Haruna was planning to send the girls to Arab countries for domestic work.
He said investigators are working to establish how the suspect intended to facilitate the girls’ travel, adding that the findings would help determine the appropriate charges.

Aminuddeen also warned parents and women to be wary of individuals offering domestic jobs abroad.
He urged families to verify the authenticity of such offers before accepting them.
