The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, for allegedly killing his father and dumping his body in a well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested after residents alerted the police to the incident, according to the command.
Police said preliminary findings suggest that Sinamai allegedly killed his biological father before disposing of his body in a well within the community.
The victim’s body has been recovered and deposited in a mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted as part of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has ordered detectives to conduct a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing.
The command said the suspect would be arraigned in court after the completion of the investigation.

Reacting to the incident, Hassan described the alleged killing as disturbing and assured residents that the case would be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice is done.
He also appealed to members of the public to resolve family disagreements through peaceful and lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
