MTV Shuga Returns With Season Six

Long-running pan African television drama series, MTV Shuga, has made a major comeback to Nigeria this year for its highly anticipated 6th season tagged #MTVShugaNaija.

After it wrapped up its season 5 which was shot in South Africa, the new season brings back some of the old cast and introduced new faces which were unveiled at the world premiere on Thursday at film house IMAX, Lekki, Lagos state.

There were at least 10 fresh faces joining the crew in the new season as well as returning cast members Timini Egbuson, Jemima Osunde and Sharon Ezeamaka.

Fan-favourite Olumide Oworu, who played ‘Weki’ in seasons 3 and 4, also reunites with the original Shuga crew.

Shuga, is a television drama series that was first aired in November 2009 on MTV Base as part of an initiative tagged “MTV Staying Alive Ignite” to create a multimedia campaign, and spread the message about responsible sexual behaviour and tolerance.

MTVShugaNaija is produced by an award-winning writer/filmmaker Chris Ihidero as well as Emma Uduma of SMAT Media.

Award-winning directors, Tolulope Ajayi, Ishaya Bako and Tope Oshin have also been revealed as directors for the forthcoming season.

According to information on the official Twitter page of the TV series, the exciting new season will start airing on MTV Base West Africa, from March 6th at 21:30 West African time (WAT).
