No Violent Conflict In Kaduna Since 2023, Says Uba Sani

The Kaduna State Government has disclosed that the state has recorded zero incidents of violent conflict since 2023, attributing the milestone to the successful implementation of what it described as the Kaduna Peace Model, a home-grown conflict prevention and development framework.

The disclosure was made on Saturday during the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Week held in Kaduna, where Governor Senator Uba Sani was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki.

Delivering the governor’s keynote address, Maiyaki said the administration deliberately adopted peace as a development strategy, noting that stability has been critical to the state’s progress in education, agriculture, skills acquisition, enterprise development and social cohesion.

According to him, the Kaduna Peace Model integrates dialogue, inclusive governance, community engagement, early-warning mechanisms and intelligence-led security operations, ensuring that conflicts are detected and addressed before escalation.

“Peace is the foundation of development. By prioritising prevention, dialogue and community ownership, Kaduna State has created an enabling environment for sustainable growth,” Sani said.

The governor explained that the deployment of the Conflict Early Warning and Early Response System, supported by development partners, has strengthened trust between government and communities while improving coordination among security agencies.

He added that the system has enabled timely identification of tensions at the grassroots level, allowing authorities to intervene early and resolve disputes without violence.

Sani noted that the improved security situation has led to the reopening of schools, health facilities, markets and farmlands across previously affected communities, restoring livelihoods and public confidence.

“In the education sector, peace has allowed over 300,000 out-of-school children to return to classrooms, while tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions have been reduced by 40 per cent to ease access and reduce social exclusion,” the governor said.

In agriculture, Sani said sustained peace has boosted productivity and rural livelihoods, stressing that farmers now have unhindered access to their farmlands.

He listed increased budgetary allocation to agriculture, fertiliser distribution across all local government areas and the development of agro-industrial infrastructure as measures taken to strengthen food security and economic resilience.

According to him, job creation and support for micro, small and medium-scale enterprises remain central to sustaining peace in the state.

“By reducing unemployment and economic vulnerability, we are addressing the root causes of insecurity. Our enterprise financing schemes and skills development initiatives are designed to give people a stake in peace,” he added.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State Council, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, said the union conferred a Recognition Award for Exemplary Leadership on Governor Uba Sani in acknowledgement of his administration’s commitment to peacebuilding, inclusive governance and press freedom.

Alabelewe said the governor’s approach to dialogue and openness had helped rebuild trust between the government, the media and the public. ENDS.
