Ododo Lauds Progress At Oburu Primary Healthcare Centre
The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the ongoing upgrading of Obuburu Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Adavi.
Ododo spoke during his working visit to the site.
The facility is one of the 88 impact projects embarked on by the governor on January 11, 2025, to achieve effective healthcare delivery and universal health coverage in the state. The project was to complement the ongoing upgrade of 70 PHCs to functional Level-2 facilities.
He commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza, and the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr. Musa Muazu, for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the project.
The governor, who was accompanied by key officials, including the Chief of Staff, Hon. Alhaji Ali Bello, and the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Salami Momoh Ozigi Deedat, emphasised that the visit was a testament to his administration’s commitment to healthcare development and improving quality healthcare delivery to the people of the state.
He further urged contractors working on PHC projects to prioritise quality and adhere to standard specifications while also ensuring prompt completion.

Speaking on the visit, the Executive Director of KSPHCDA, Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza, said the “88 PHCs” project in Kogi State is a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at upgrading and revitalising 88 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.
According to him, with a commitment of over N7 billion, the project is expected to improve healthcare delivery and contribute to universal health coverage.
He added that seven PHCs are being upgraded under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), 21 PHCs by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and eight PHCs are being rehabilitated by UNICEF/Global Fund.
Omeiza also commended the governor, noting that the upgrade of PHCs across Kogi will improve healthcare delivery and achieve universal health coverage.
