Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Will Move To Permanent Campus Soon, Says Rector

The Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, has stated that academic activities will commence at the Osisioma permanent Campus in the shortest possible time.

Okoro who made this disclosure during an expanded management meeting at the schools Council Chamber noted that several ongoing projects at the campus are nearing completion and revealed that all current infrastructural development efforts are focused on the Osisioma Campus.

He added that all buildings are expected to be completed and commissioned between March and April.

The Rector also reiterated the institution’s policy prohibiting the sale of textbooks to students, while encouraging staff to treat students with kindness and desist from unethical practices.

He further stressed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, noting that a motivated workforce is essential to providing quality support for students.

“We will continue to fight for the welfare of the staff, and it will please us if they, in turn, fight for the welfare of the students,” he said.

Additionally, Okoro revealed that management plans to introduce a course in Sports and Physical Education, as proposed by the State Commissioner for Sports. He disclosed that the programme will be domiciled in the School of Business and Management Technology (SBMT).

He also announced that evening programmes will be created for Mass Communication and Engineering students.
“As long as I remain here, as it pleases His Excellency, convocation will be held annually. We will not deny people what is due to them,” he added.

Okoro appreciated the Polytechnic staff for their massive turnout at his mother-in-law’s traditional retirement ceremony and also commended the State Governor for approving a new structural salary payment for the institution.

“I want to appreciate His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, the Chief Painter, for always using the right paints always,” he said, while pledging to fully align the Polytechnic’s operations with the state’s theme of the year, “Acceleration and New Possibilities”.
