Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Cyberbullying In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has announced a series of security interventions recorded during the 2025 ember and festive season.

Among them were the arrest of a suspect over alleged cyberbullying and the containment of security threats linked to town union elections across the state.

The Command on Monday, noted the arrest of a 42-year-old woman, Eucharia Ogochukwu, in Awka over allegations of cyber bullying, criminal conspiracy and defamation of character.

According to the statement, Rapid Response Squad operatives arrested the suspect at about 3:20 pm on December 31.

“Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad arrested a female suspect, Eucharia Ogochukwu, aged 42, at Awka, in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, cyber bullying, and defamation of character against a very senior police officer who once served in the Command,” the statement said.

The police added that the suspect made “useful statements” during interrogation, while investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other persons who may be linked to the incident.

The Command also confirmed that it successfully contained security-related challenges that arose during town union elections conducted in some communities during the festive period.

The Police commended community leaders, town union executives and residents for their cooperation and restraint, which it said contributed significantly to the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Command further advised aggrieved parties to pursue complaints through lawful and established channels rather than resorting to self-help.

As part of the overall security arrangement during the ember season, the Police said joint patrols were intensified across major highways, commercial centres, places of worship and recreational areas.
