Bandits struck Mussa community in Askira-Uba LGA of Borno State, again on Tuesday, kidnapping two farmers in the same community where 42 schoolchildren were abducted over 30 days ago.
Burka Buba, a parent of one of the 42 children kidnapped on May 15, 2026, told THE WHISTLER in a phone interview that gunmen entered a farm near the community and took a man and a woman who were planting crops.
“The kidnappers came to the farm and abducted two people. One man and a woman. The two people were planting groundnut when they were attacked,” he said.
He added that the abductors who were about six in number during the attack, called the next day demanding N10m as ransom.
“They are demanding N10m. But the people they carried cannot even boast of N300,000. So where will they get this money,?” he queried.

Buba said the community has reported the incident to the army, but there has been no update.
“They said they will follow up but we do not know what is happening,” he said.
Burka said the incident has heightened fear in the community, where parents are yet to hear about their children over 30 days after the abduction.
“It is a big problem because we can’t go to our farms again. It is a few kilometres away from our community.”
The latest abduction comes as families of 42 children taken from Central Primary School and a junior secondary school in Mussa on May 15 continue to live in silence.
