Sokoto Commends Troops, Demands Sustained Offensive Against Bandits

The Sokoto State Government has called on security agencies to sustain and intensify ongoing operations against bandits and other criminal elements following recent successes recorded in various parts of the state.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, made the call while commending security operatives for their commitment and achievements in the fight against insecurity across Sokoto State.

Col. Usman praised the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, noting that their recent operations resulted in the rescue of abducted residents and the neutralisation of several bandits who had been terrorising communities.

He described the achievements as a reflection of the dedication, courage and professionalism of security personnel who continue to make significant sacrifices to protect lives and property.

According to him, the recent gains demonstrate that sustained pressure on criminal groups can yield positive results and help restore peace in affected communities.

The Security Adviser urged security agencies not to relent in their efforts, stressing the need to maintain the momentum in order to further degrade the operational capacity of bandit groups and other criminal networks operating within and around the state.

While applauding the successes, Usman also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of security personnel in separate incidents during ongoing operations.

He extended condolences to the Nigerian Army following the death of three soldiers whose operational vehicle reportedly struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Isa–Bargaja Road.

The Security Adviser also sympathised with the Nigeria Police Force over the killing of two police officers during a bandits’ ambush in Tureta Local Government Area.

He described the deceased personnel as heroes who paid the supreme price in service to their nation and the protection of innocent citizens.
