Troops of Operation UDO KA under the 145 Battalion (Rear) have arrested two suspects and recovered a locally fabricated pistol following a security operation in Amaoba-Ime Community, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.
The operation according to a statement signed by Captain Mazinho Attah, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ohafia, was carried out on Monday, June 22, 2026, after military personnel responded swiftly to a distress call from the Chief Security Officer of the Amaoba-Ime Community Vigilante.
“According to preliminary findings, a 20-year-old resident identified as John Nndoze reportedly discovered a locally fabricated pistol concealed inside a polythene bag that had been entrusted to him by Mr. Moses Uchenna Aleka. Alarmed by the discovery, Nndoze immediately alerted security operatives”.
Investigations further revealed that the report allegedly triggered a violent reaction from Moses Uchenna Aleka, his elder brother, Emmanuel Uchenna, and several associates, who were accused of assaulting John Nndoze for exposing the matter. The victim reportedly sustained multiple bruises during the attack.
“Following the intervention of troops, Emmanuel Uchenna and John Nndoze were taken into custody for further questioning, while the illegal firearm was recovered and secured by security personnel”.
Military authorities disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals linked to the incident and determine the full circumstances surrounding the possession of the weapon.

The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to strengthening security operations and combating criminal activities across Abia State.
