Two Arraigned Over Alleged N6.8m Fraud

The Police on Monday charged two men before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged N6.8 million fraud.

The defendants are: Ajibode Olaleye, 51; and Noah Boyanho, 73.

They are standing trial on charges bordering on felony, breach of peace, fraud and stealing.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP. Edet Ekpo told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in August, at No 9, Olorunda St. Morogbô, along Badagry expressway, Lagos.

Ekpo alleged that the defendants conspired to obtain the sum of N6.8 million from one Mr Ugochukwu Orikago with a promise to use the same in helping him to rent a shop.

He was alleged to have failed to carry out the task, but instead, converted the money without the consent of the complainant.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by their actions.

“The offences contravene the provisions of sections 168, 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum one million naira each with two sureties each in the like sum.

He said that one of the sureties must be a community leader

Layeni adjourned the case until Jan.15, 2026, for mention.
