11 Boko Haram Family Members Surrender In Borno

Eleven family members of suspected Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State.

According to counter-insurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama, who covers the Lake Chad region, said five women and six children surrendered at about 6:00 pm on June 24, 2026, at separate locations in Banki, Bama Local Government Area.

Makama said four women and four children from Chongolo village voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 152 Task Force Battalion, while one woman and two children from Ladantar surrendered to troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion at Banki Junction.

Preliminary profiling conducted by the military discovered that the eleven persons are family members of suspected Boko Haram terrorist who fled insurgent enclaves in search of safety.

After documentation and profiling, the surrendered individuals were handed over to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Bama for further processing and rehabilitation in line with established procedures.

Makama descried the surrendering as part of a continuing wave of defections from terrorist enclaves, driven by continous military pressure under Operation HADIN KAI.
