2027: Ex-Naval Chief Rebuts Interest In Enugu Guber

The immediate past Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (retrd), has debunked news that he is contesting for the office of governor of Enugu State in 2027.

THE WHISTLER reports that Admiral Ogalla’s campaign posters had gone viral of late.

His disclaimer is contained in a statement from the office of the Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon Michael Ogalla. The release was signed by Godswill Eze, the chairman’s Special Assistant on Media/Publicity.

The statement described the information as false, misleading, and unfounded.

It read, “Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (retrd) has no intention, interest, or plan to contest for the governorship of Enugu State or any other political office at this time. The Admiral is a firm believer in and a product of the Renewed Hope Agenda, has consistently worked for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and will continue to support the exceptionally good governance of Gov Peter Mbah.”

The release explained that neither the former Chief of Naval Staff nor any of his aides had any affiliation with the African Democratic Congress as a political party.

“The said poster was neither authorized, endorsed, nor approved by Vice-Admiral Ogalla, and those circulating it are doing so without his consent or knowledge,” the statement read.

It urged members of the public “to completely disregard the poster and any accompanying narratives,” adding that “those behind them are mere mischief-makers bent on spreading falsehood”.

It stated that the Ex-Naval Chief remained focused on his personal engagements and national service outside partisan politics, and charged the public to always verify information from credible and official sources.

It was gathered that the council chairman is a younger brother of Admiral Ogalla.
