44-Year-Old Man Remanded In Prison For Alleged Rape Of Teenage Daughter

An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Friday remanded
a 44-year-old man, Kazeem Olapade, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter (name withheld).

Olapade was arraigned on three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, assault and having canal knowledge of his daughter.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintunde told the court that Olapade, who resides at Ido-Osun, Osogbo between August 2020 and January 202, raped her daughter on several occasions before he was arrested by the police.

He noted that the offence of unlawful sexual intercourse contravened Section 31(1) (2) of the Child’s Rights Law of Osun State 2007, while unlawful carnal knowledge is contrary to and punishable under Section 214(1) and 360of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

But Olapade pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The counsel for the defendant, Mr K.C Abioye, made an oral application for Olapade’s bail in the most liberal term.

The presiding magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, refused to grant bail to the defendant. He ordered that Olapade be remanded in Ilesha Correctional facilities.

Ayilara adjourned the matter till February 5, 2021, for ruling on bail.
