Buhari Congratulates Nigeria’s Special Athletes for Winning 71 Medals

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday congratulated Nigeria’s team at the just concluded Special Olympics, which took place in Los Angeles, United States, for winning medals at the game.

According to a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari praised the team of 42 athletes for their diligence and dedication which led to the acquisition of 71 medals at the games.

President Buhari said “These victories are a reflection of the true spirit of Nigeria,
“It also represents my personal conviction that whatever challenges we face as a nation, we can overcome them through dedication, hard work and perseverance, and rise to the highest possible levels of accomplishment.”

He added that the country was particularly proud of the athletes for winning a medal in every single event featured at the Games.

“Our special athletes have indeed proved themselves special.

“Nigeria’s team to the Special Olympics has given us all a reason to smile and celebrate. I look forward to celebrating with the entire team at the State House in Abuja,” President Buhari said.

The President added that his government is encouraged to have received such good news, especially at a time like this, when his government is working hard to correct past mistakes.
