Some residents who spoke with our correspondent on Wednesday morning said the looting of the armoury might worsen insecurity in the area.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had said two policemen were killed and two others were missing after the attack.

He also said in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, that some AK-47 rifles were stolen from the place and this development has sent jitters down the spines of many residents.

The statement read, “The CP wishes to inform the good people of Oyo State and the general public that due to the attacks, some of the police AK- 47 rifles are still missing.

“As a result of this, the CP implores the people to be vigilant and report any individual or group, who are not police officers/military personnel but seen with such rifles to immediately report to the nearest police station.”

One of the traders in Ojoo area, Linus Andrew, said the police should intensify their search to recover the stolen weapons.

He said, ” The stolen AK-47 will definitely worsen insecurity in Ibadan and even its environs. Just one AK-47 is enough to cause a lot of destruction and from what the police said, the number of the guns stolen are many. May God protect us.”

Also, a student, Bimbo Alalade, said residents of the city should be ready for the consequences of the development.

A civil servant who identified himself as David said the development could lead to cases of robbery and kidnap in the state, while urging security agencies to do everything to recover the stolen weapons
