Buhari, Ministers Hold FEC Meeting, As Nation Awaits Address On #EndSARS Protests

President Muhammadu Buhari and his ministers are currently holding the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) amid the #EndSARS protests.

The protests, which turned violent since Monday after hoodlums reportedly infiltrated the ranks of peaceful protesters in parts of the country, got worse on Tuesday with the alleged killing of many youths in the Lekki Toll Gate area of Lagos.

THE WHISTLER observes that there is still no word from the Presidency on the latest development, though the nation awaits a possible address by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Senate had on Tuesday passed a resolution calling on Buhari to address the nation on the current situation.

The virtual FEC meeting, which is being coordinated from the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, also has Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance.

Others physically present are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Mungonu; Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Justice, Abubakar Malami; Works and Housing, Babtunde Fashola; Health, Osagie Ehanire; and Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu.
