A number of 760 teachers and students of Enugu State-owned schools have been awarded scholarships by the state government under its 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme.
The Executive Secretary of Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Mr Chukwuemeka Mbah, stated this on Monday.
He explained that the beneficiaries are 500 undergraduate students, 100 postgraduate students, and more than 160 public school teachers drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state and various academic disciplines.
He said the awards were in fulfilment of Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment towards reducing financial burdens of qualified residents from accessing quality education.
The inclusion of public school teachers, he said, was to strengthen the capacity of educators and support the effective implementation of the state’s experiential learning model in schools.
The executive secretary disclosed that the successful applicants emerged after a Computer-Based Test (CBT), adding that they are being notified through text messages and emails on a local government-by-local government basis for verification and documentation.

“The verification exercise for undergraduate and postgraduate beneficiaries will commence immediately, while that of the teachers will begin subsequently,” he said.
He described the scholarship scheme as “a strategic investment in the future of the state”, noting that the state was committed to expanding educational opportunities and developing the skilled workforce needed to drive Enugu’s growth.
