‘Environment Here Is Perfect’—Semenyo Reacts To Stunning Start At Man City

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has reacted to his impressive start to life at Manchester City after scoring in back-to-back games.

Semenyo joined the club from Bournemouth last week, and he scored and assisted in his debut in the 10-1 victory over lower-league English side Exeter City on Saturday.

He was also on target in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday.

Semenyo revealed that the environment at Man City had taken his game to another level.

He said, “The whole environment here is perfect. Everyone is confident and wants to achieve the best.

“I’ve just come into that, and they’ve helped me with my confidence, and they’ve made me feel welcome. It’s been a lot, definitely been a lot, but I’m enjoying it so far; I’m definitely picking things up very quickly. I’m enjoying it.

“I’m taking the confidence from Bournemouth here. I’m playing with a smile on my face. I’m enjoying every moment. We just had to stick in there; we knew we would get chances. I was just in the right area to tap it in, and we’re victorious, so we’re happy.”

Guardiola was impressed with Semenyo’s performance against Newcastle United while berating the officials for ruling out his second goal in the encounter.

He said, “We know Bournemouth did an incredible job with him (Semenyo), and every time the ball arrives at him, he is always there.

“Four officials and VAR were not able to make a decision; they had to go to the referee. We know how it works, and that will make us stronger. It’s in that situation that we react.

“It’s the semi-finals. We play for a lot to reach the finals. It will make us stronger.”
