President Bola Tinubu has described the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, as one of his administration’s most outstanding and hardworking ministers.
He commended his commitment to delivering durable roads and bridges, which he said would last for approximately a century.
The President made the remarks on Saturday in a congratulatory message to mark Umahi’s birthday, praising the former Ebonyi State governor for his dedication, patriotism and hands-on approach to supervising road projects across the country.
Umahi was born on July 25, 1963.
According to Tinubu, the minister’s passion for infrastructure development and his constant presence at project sites have distinguished him in the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers, passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century.

“As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” the President said.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday quoted Tinubu as urging the minister to sustain the momentum by accelerating the construction, rehabilitation and delivery of road infrastructure to improve the quality of life of Nigerians and stimulate economic growth.
The President noted that before he was appointed Minister of Works, Umahi served as the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District after completing two terms as Governor of Ebonyi State between May 2015 and May 2023, a period during which the state witnessed significant infrastructural development.
He said Umahi’s record in public service and his continued efforts in delivering quality road infrastructure reflect his commitment to national development.
Tinubu also celebrated the minister alongside his family and prayed for good health, renewed strength and greater accomplishments as he continues to serve the nation.
