FG Files Terrorism Charges Against Three Oyo School Kidnappers

The Federal Government has filed a 10-count charge against three men over the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The charges, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, accuse the defendants of terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement and illegal mining.

The defendants are Abdulrazak Umar, also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid; Yunusa Musa, also known as Yunusa bin Musa; and Shamsu Adamu Sani, also known as Abu Itisar. All three are said to be natives of Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to the charge, the suspects allegedly conspired with three other persons identified as Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to abduct the schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State.

The Federal Government alleged that the conspiracy contravenes Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The prosecution further accused the defendants of facilitating the abduction and concealing information about the identities, movements and activities of the alleged masterminds despite having prior knowledge of the plot.

The charge also includes allegations of incitement and illegal mining against the defendants.
