The Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, has called on the public to help identify and locate the relatives of an unidentified man whose body has remained unclaimed in the hospital’s mortuary roughly a month after his death.
The hospital’s public affairs unit in a statement on Friday said the deceased who was believed to be about 35 years old was involved in a road traffic accident in the Government Reserved Area of Gombe.
It further explained that the victim was brought to the facility by an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he was reportedly knocked down by a hit-and-run driver, adding that the man was admitted on Friday, May 15, 2026, but died two days later on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
According to the hospital, the deceased was about 155.4 centimetres tall and had distinct horizontal tribal marks on both upper cheeks, which could assist in identifying him.
“The deceased is an unknown male of about 35 years of age. He was involved in a pedestrian road traffic accident at GRA, Gombe State, and was brought to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, by an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after being hit by a hit-and-run driver,” the statement read.
