NLC Suspends Strike

The Nigrerian Labour Congress, (NLC), has suspended its warning strike.

The National President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, announced the suspension at a press conference on Sunday in Abuja.

Wabba said the strike was being called off as a result of the firm and formal assurance of the federal government to reconvene the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.

“The suspension takes effect from today Sunday,” Wabba said.

Recall that the labour union commenced a seven-day warning strike on the midnight of Wednesday September 26 to press home their demand for an upward review of the N18,000 minimum wage to N56,000.

The current N18,000 minimum wage expired in 2015.
