President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian Christians on the occasion of Easter and urged citizens to remain hopeful and united amid current challenges.
According to Tinubu, no nation thrives under fear.
In his Easter message on Friday, Tinubu said the season symbolises sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness.
He said Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, reflects the redemptive power of faith and offers encouragement in difficult times.
The president said the message of the season resonates with Nigeria’s current realities, as the nation navigates economic strain and security challenges. He also assured that determined efforts are underway to address the challenges and improve the wellbeing of citizens.

“This season also reminds us of the significance of Easter and the message it embodies— of sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness. For us in Nigeria, the essence resonates with our current realities as we navigate a period marked by economic strain and security challenges, even as determined efforts are underway to address them,’ the president said in his Easter message.
Tinubu further acknowledged the sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces, who continue to confront insecurity across the country, adding that his administration was strengthening resource allocation and forging international partnerships to tackle terrorism and banditry.
He also referenced his recent visit to Plateau, where he commiserated with victims of violence and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to restoring peace.
Tinubu said security agencies had given assurances of progress, adding that support was also being received from international partners. He also stressed the need for unity, noting that no nation can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
“On Thursday, I was in Jos to commiserate with people of Plateau State, share in their grief, and offer reassurances of better days to come. The leaders of the nation’s security institutions have given strong assurances of progress. We have also sought and are receiving assistance from outside our shores,” the president said.

He further called on Nigerians to support lawful efforts, promote peaceful coexistence, and reject actions that threaten national stability.
On the economy, the president said ongoing reforms, though demanding, were designed to deliver long-term shared prosperity.
“As I have often said, true transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice, and history affirms that enduring progress is often forged in moments such as these,” he said.
He also urged political actors to uphold democratic values as the country approaches another electoral cycle, emphasising the need to adhere to the Electoral Act and ensure peaceful, responsible participation in the democratic process.
The president expressed optimism about the nation’s economic direction, noting that key indicators suggest progress is being made. “A new dawn is on the horizon,” he said.
Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust, pledging to remain committed to building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation, and urged citizens to keep faith and contribute to national development.
