The new device which was announced on Tuesday offers a larger battery, a moderately bigger screen and is water resistant.

It supports 5G but not the fastest mmWave 5G network and has the same midrange Qualcomm processor as last year’s model.

Google is gradually developing its hardware business, which currently doesn’t generate nearly as much income as its software services such as YouTube, Google Cloud and Search.

Google acquired FitBit Inc, a consumer electronics and fitness company known for activity trackers, smartwatches and other wireless-enabled wearable tech devices for $2.1 billion in a transaction completed in January 2021.

The deal has given it a foundation in the wearable fitness market.

Earlier this month, the company announced the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, two new high-end phones which will use a new Google Tensor chip instead of the one made by Qualcomm.
