The Minister of Power, Mr Joseph Tegbe has called for a stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force to curb vandalism and safeguard critical electricity assets.
He said the Federal Government is committed to protecting Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
During a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Tegbe described the vandalisation of power installations as a major threat to ongoing power sector reforms.
He called for enhanced surveillance and closer cooperation between the Ministry and the Police.
The Minister called for a sustained action to secure the nation’s electricity infrastructure.
Responding, IGP Olatunji Disu reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure, prosecuting vandals, and strengthening energy security.

He also expressed readiness to establish a joint task force with the Ministry to protect power facilities nationwide.
