Police Arrest 156 Suspects, Recover Arms, Drugs, Stolen Property In Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command says it has arrested 156 suspects in connection with various crimes across the state within the past one month.

Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Dutse, said the arrests were made between July 8 and September 1, 2025, following intensified security operations.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended for offences ranging from drug peddling, theft, and vandalism to rape, culpable homicide, robbery, gun running, and kidnapping.

“Fifty suspects were arrested for alleged drug peddling, 43 for theft, 16 for vandalism, 16 for rape and unnatural offences, 18 for culpable homicide, 10 for robbery, two for gun running, and one for kidnapping,” Muhammad stated.

The commissioner further revealed that operatives recovered two fabricated AK-47 rifles, three cars, four motorcycles, one tricycle, 14 cows, 22 cell phones, and a large quantity of vandalised cable wires during the operations.

Also seized were dangerous drugs and narcotics, including 3,907 pieces of exol tablets, 11,742 pieces of D5 tablets, 395 pieces of tramadol tablets, 1,121 pieces of diabetes tablets, 861 parcels of cannabis, 288 pieces of rubber solution, and 40 pieces of Lara capsules.

Muhammad described the feat as a testament to the command’s renewed commitment to combating crime and safeguarding lives and property in the state.

He commended officers and men of the command for their professionalism and dedication, while also appreciating the support of the Jigawa State Government, sister security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, community-based organisations, and residents.

“I wish to assure the good citizens of Jigawa that the command is ready to collaborate and partner with all to ensure peace, safety, and security of the state,” the commissioner said.
