Qatar Snatch Stoppage-Time Draw To Claim Historic W/Cup Point

Qatar snatched a dramatic late draw with Switzerland in San Francisco to earn their first ever World Cup point.

Breel Embolo scored the opening goal from the penalty spot after Mahmoud Abunada brought Remo Freuler down in the box.

The Swiss looked to be heading to victory, but Boualem Khoukhi struck in the fifth minute of injury time to earn a famous draw.

Switzerland are punished for allowing the game to drift. Their tempo and intensity noticeably dropped in the second half and they seemed happy to try to see out a 1-0.

Qatar lost all three group games in their home tournament four years ago.

This draw leaves all four teams in Group B which also includes Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina tightly packed.
