Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State will come alive today as the reigning African Queens the Super Falcons of Nigeria take on the Lionesses of Teranga in the first of a two-legged friendly encounter.
Head coach Justin Madugu has a superb mix of the highly-experienced and the young and capable, with the likes of Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade and Christy Ucheibe amongst the mix.
The 10-time champions will miss the services of midfielder Halimat Ayinde who is out of the two games, but Coach Madugu had extended invitation to Israel-based midfielder Josephine Matthias to fill her place.
The Super Falcons who are, gunning for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title, will contend with Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi in group C, while Senegal will play hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya in group A of the WAFCON tournament that is scheduled for 25th July – 16th August 2026 in Morocco.
The Teranga Lionesses are winless against the Super Falcons in their last three meetings (L2,D1) while the last game between both teams was an International friendly played February 17,2018 which ended 3-0 in favour of Nigeria.
Today’s (Friday) game in Ikenne kicks off at 4pm, same as Monday’s fixture.
