Suspected Cultist Admits Involvement In Several Killings In Lagos

A suspected member of the Aiye Confraternity cult group has allegedly admitted involvement in several killings in Mushin and other parts of Lagos State, the Lagos State Police Command said on Monday.

The suspect, identified as Irawo Moshod, was arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit following credible intelligence on the activities of cult groups in Mushin.

The police said Moshod admitted to being a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity and made useful disclosures about the group’s activities, including his alleged involvement in several killings across Mushin and other parts of Lagos.

Acting on information provided by the suspect, the operatives proceeded to Idi-Oro, Mushin, where they recovered one locally made Beretta pistol and one 9mm live ammunition.

The police subsequently arrested three other suspected members of the group at Aganran by Ojuwoye. They were identified as 29-year-old Abayomi James, 28-year-old Farouq Bankole and 19-year-old Steven Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Command spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, the three suspects admitted to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and disclosed that the recovered firearm was allegedly obtained from one Rilwan, whom they identified as the number one member of the group.

The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the group.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for their proactive and intelligence-driven operation.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents.

He also warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full weight of the law.
