Polish star Iga Swiatek has vowed to bounce back at the Australian Open after losing two consecutive matches at the United Cup.
She suffered a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 to Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the mixed-teams United Cup final in Sydney on Sunday, which came on the back of a lacklustre 6-4, 6-2 defeat to Coco Gauff in the semifinals.
Swiatek lost seven games in a row against Bencic, including a rare set to love to sum up a disappointing outing.
She last suffered back-to-back defeats in 2021 against Elena Rybakina and Amanda Anisimova at the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
However, Swiatek revealed that there is no cause for alarm, and she will regain her form at the Australian Open.

She said: “Everything is fine. Just super sore. I guess the first tournament of the year costs the body a bit differently than during the season. But I had a similar experience last year also. I’ll just get a good recovery, couple days off.
“Also I know these team events. I love them but they really take a lot of energy from you. I still need to figure out how to balance that maybe in the future.”
She suffered 36 unforced errors against Bencic but she has promised to iron out the technical issues before the tournament kicks off on Sunday.
Swiatek concluded: “We’re going to work now to improve some elements that didn’t work this week.
“Still not a lot of time for that if I also want to have some recovery days. This is how tennis is. You got to go with the flow. We’ll see.”

She will be hoping to end her Australian Open title drought when the tournament serves off on Sunday.
Swiatek has won 25 WTA Tour–level singles titles, including six major titles: four at the French Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open.
She has also won the 2023 WTA Finals and eleven WTA 1000 titles. Świątek is the first Pole to win a major singles title.
