Tinubu Orders Troops To Hunt Down Killers Of 30 In Kaduna

President Bola Tinubu has directed the armed forces, the police and intelligence agencies to track down those responsible for the attack that left about 30 people dead in Naridon Village, Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, claimed the lives of men, women and children, while several houses were set ablaze.

Tinubu described the attack as “a barbaric and cowardly” assault on innocent citizens and vowed that those behind it would face justice.

He said the perpetrators would not be allowed to undermine the relative peace and security Kaduna State has enjoyed in recent times.

Tinubu also condoled with the bereaved families, Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Government and residents of the state.

He assured affected communities that the Federal Government would continue to support efforts to address security challenges across the country.

“I have directed the Armed Forces, police, and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly and restore normalcy to the region.

“Our administration has an unwavering commitment,” President Tinubu reiterates,” to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel, and neutralising criminal networks attempting to disrupt the peace of the nation.”

“I urge our local communities to cooperate with security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would help early response efforts,” President Tinubu adds.

Meanwhile, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has called on the Kaduna State Police Command to adopt more proactive measures to stem the wave of killings, kidnappings and attacks on communities in Southern Kaduna.

In an open letter addressed to Governor Uba Sani and the Commissioner of Police, SOKAPU said about 30 people, including women and children, were reportedly killed in Monday’s attack on Naridon community in Kauru Local Government Area.

The letter, signed by the union’s National President, Engr. Tabara Kato, expressed concern over the continued attacks in Kauru, Kajuru, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local government areas despite ongoing security operations.

According to the association, the violence has forced many residents from their homes, destroyed farmlands and left farming communities living in constant fear.

SOKAPU urged the police to move beyond what it described as reactive responses by deploying tactical and counter-terrorism units to vulnerable communities and forest corridors.

It also called for regular patrols in farming communities to allow residents to cultivate and harvest their crops without fear of attacks or abduction.

The group further urged security agencies to strengthen intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal hideouts and respond more quickly to distress calls.

SOKAPU said restoring public confidence through effective communication and prompt intervention was critical to addressing the worsening security situation.

It added that protecting lives and property remained the constitutional responsibility of government and expressed hope that the police would take decisive steps to prevent further bloodshed.

Southern Kaduna has witnessed recurring attacks, kidnappings and communal violence over the years, particularly in Kauru, Kajuru, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local government areas.

The violence has claimed lives, displaced residents and disrupted farming activities, fueling concerns over food security and livelihoods.
