Truck Driver Kills Motor Boy After Brake Failure In Ogun

A tragic road accident on Koro-Otun Road in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State has claimed the life of a motor boy after an iron-laden Mercedes-Benz truck suffered brake failure and crashed into another vehicle.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the Benz HIAB truck, with registration number EKY 595 YR, reportedly lost control due to brake failure and rammed into a containerised truck that had no registration number. The impact killed the motor boy instantly.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said two male persons were involved in the crash, with one fatality recorded.

According to Akinbiyi, the brake failure caused the driver of the Benz truck to lose control, leading to the collision. He added that the body of the deceased had been released to his family.

He further disclosed that the accident vehicle was later towed away from the road to restore free flow of traffic, while the driver of the containerised truck fled the scene after the crash.
