The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rearrested two ex-convicts, Rose Daniel and Blessing John, for allegedly abducting and trafficking children in Abuja.
The suspects were arrested on August 27, 2026, in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT while allegedly attempting to flee with a four-year-old girl identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
According to the statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer on Wednesday, the suspects were apprehended after a concerned resident who witnessed the incident alerted the authorities.
Police operatives reportedly responded swiftly to the distress call, rescued the child and arrested the two suspects.
Preliminary investigations showed that Daniel and John had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court over a similar offence.
The police said the suspects were subsequently convicted and released on bail after spending about five months in prison.
Further investigation, however, allegedly revealed that following their release, the suspects had abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country.

The police said the latest incident involved two children who were allegedly transported to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where they were sold to a suspected accomplice identified as Madam Ijeoma for N1.5 million each.
The rescued four-year-old girl has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The command said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The FCT Police Command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards.
It also called on members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
