Abia Speaker Explains Delay In Swearing-in Of Hon Uzodike

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues its push for international intervention in the ongoing dispute over the swearing-in of Hon. Aaron Uzodike.

However, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA) has countered the party’s accusations, citing a court injunction as the reason behind the delay.

Following the PDP’s threat to petition to the US government seeking visa bans for the Speaker and ABHA leadership, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emereuwa emphasized the existence of an injunction restraining the assembly from swearing him in.

“There’s an injunction from the court preventing the swearing-in of Hon. Aaron Uzodike,” the Speaker stated. “I must follow the due course of the law without fear or favour.”

This statement contradicts the PDP’s earlier claims that a Court of Appeal ruling favored Uzodike. However, the Speaker added, “The PDP is yet to present any court ruling in their favor regarding the swearing-in of Hon. Uzodike. We await a valid court order before any action is taken.”
