Adenuga Honored With Highest National Award In Ghana

Ghanaian President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, on Sunday conferred the Chairman of Globacom, Dr Mike Adenuga jr the country’s highest civil national award.

The award, “The Companion of the Star of Ghana (CSG)” was conferred on him following his immense contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria.

Mahama said “You have provided employment for our teeming youth, artists, footballers and much more. I am particularly proud of you. This award is our way of saying a simple Thank You”, Mr Mahama said.

In his response, Dr Adenuga thanked the President for recognising his modest contributions to the development of Ghana’s economy. He said the award came “as a great source of pride and encouragement”.

“This is more so as it is coming from Your Excellency, whose sterling qualities of leadership I admire greatly,” he added.

The Globacom boss has received numerous awards within and outside Nigeria over the years. He was honoured by the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the National Awards of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and later with the award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

During Nigeria’s 50th anniversary celebration, Adenuga was one of the 50 prominent Nigerians who was conferred with the Special Golden Jubilee Independence Anniversary Awards by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Apart from these, Dr Adenuga was named the African Telecoms Entrepreneur of the year for his courageous and rapid investment in the telecoms sector. He has been named as the ‘Man of the Year’ by most of the notable newspapers in Nigeria, including the highly regarded Thisday newspapers.

Over and over again he has been voted Nigeria’s Most Outstanding Business Personality over the last 30 years. He continues to exert a positive influence on the business sector, within and outside Nigeria.
