It was like a scene from a Nollywood movie as some angry Kogi residents pelted Governor Yahaya Bello with stone, rotten fruits and vegetables at the Lokoja Central Mosque.

While it is yet unclear why the residents attacked the governor, The Whistler learnt that anger was still high over unpaid wages, sack of civil servants and other sundry allegations.

An eyewitness was quoted as saying that some of those who stoned the governor carried placards and chanted anti-government slogans.

“The situation in this state is even worse than what the residents are doing. The situation is pathetic.

“He recently attended an event in Ankpa, and residents there defied heavy security to stone him,” a source said.

The angry residents were later dispersed by the police with teargas.
