BREAKING: French Prime Minister Resigns Barely One Month In Office

France’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, has resigned just 26 days after taking office.

The French government confirmed the resignation on Monday following a one-hour meeting between Lecornu and President Emmanuel Macron.

The announcement came less than 24 hours after Lecornu unveiled his cabinet, which immediately drew widespread backlash from across the French political spectrum.

Critics in the National Assembly condemned the cabinet’s composition as a continuation of former Prime Minister François Bayrou’s administration, threatening a no-confidence vote even before it could take shape.

The resignation is yet another setback for Macron, whose government has struggled to maintain stability.

Lecornu, a former defence minister and close Macron ally, became France’s fifth prime minister in less than two years.

His exit deepens the crisis facing the Macron administration, as opposition parties now push for early elections and some even calling for Macron to step down.

Despite growing pressure, the president has repeatedly insisted he will serve out his term, which runs until 2027.
